  Simon greeted us in our hotel lobby and equipped us with wireless ear phones to enable us to walk around and hear his narrative on the move. His clear love... read more of the Canaries and his detailed knowledge of their history and culture shone through his clear commentary. The trip gave us exactly what we were looking for. A real sense of the island while moving around in it and enjoying great views. We stopped often to take short walks to absorb the often stunning views and understand many aspects of island life. Simons deep familiarity with all things Canarian provided a wonderful context for the sights we were seeing. It is not possible to gain the insights into Gran Canaria life and appreciate the links of the scenery to historic events and cultural objectives by self guiding with a rental car.

  The nine hours passed quickly with Simon's coverage of geological, historical and social aspects of Gran Canaria. Trip punctuated with stops every 25 to 35 mins which was ideal on... read more rather twisty roads! Only thing I would say is lunch is very minimalist so advise taking extra.
